Cosun is an international agricultural cooperative owned by approximately 8,100 Dutch sugar beet growers. With over 125 years of experience, the cooperative transforms crops into a range of products across several sectors, including plant-based food, food ingredients, animal feed, biobased ingredients, and green energy. It operates more than 30 production locations across 20 countries and employs over 4,500 people.
The company's operations are structured around agricultural transformation and circular innovation. Specific product lines include Fidesse®, developed with Aviko for hybrid meat products; inulin, produced from chicory root by its subsidiary Sensus; and green gas generated from beet pulp. This approach positions Cosun at the intersection of traditional agriculture and the bio-economy.
As a cooperative, Cosun's business model is centred on partnerships with its grower-owners, customers, knowledge institutes, and startups, facilitated through its Cosun Connect platform. The company's stated mission, "The Plant Positive Way," focuses on leveraging plant-based resources for positive societal impact.
