EUTELSAT SA is a Paris-based satellite operator that has been providing communications services since 1977. Originally established as a European intergovernmental organisation, the company has evolved into a commercial operator with around 1,600 employees and a presence in more than 50 countries. Its core business is building and operating what it describes as the world's first fully integrated GEO-LEO satellite network, combining 33 geostationary satellites with a low Earth orbit constellation of more than 600 satellites through its integration with OneWeb.
The network serves a broad range of use cases where terrestrial infrastructure cannot reach. Customers include governments, enterprises, maritime fleets, emergency-response operations, and everyday consumers requiring connectivity on land, at sea, or in the air. In broadcasting, EUTELSAT's GEO fleet delivers content to millions of viewers across Europe, Africa, and beyond, making it a significant distribution platform for broadcasters operating in those regions.
The technical scope spans satellite fleet operations, GEO-LEO network integration, broadcast content distribution, and resilient communications for mobility and critical-use environments. The combination of geostationary coverage with the lower-latency capabilities of LEO positions the company to address connectivity demands across a wider range of applications than either orbit layer could serve independently.
