We're Metropolitan Family Services, and since 1857, we've been empowering Chicago-area families to learn, earn, heal, and thrive. As Illinois' first comprehensive human services agency, we reach over 117,000 individuals and families annually across Chicago, Evanston/Skokie, the southwest suburbs, and DuPage County. Our team of 1,000+ employees works from community centers throughout the region, providing everything from early learning and Head Start programs to mental health counseling, legal assistance, and economic stability services. We're not just service providers - we're mentors, motivators, and advocates who've been part of this community for over 165 years.
What we actually do day-to-day is mobilize the services families need to strengthen their households and communities. Whether it's helping parents find quality childcare for their six-week-old, supporting a survivor of domestic violence through court proceedings, connecting someone with job training, or providing behavioral health support to seniors - we meet people where they are. Our approach is collaborative and community-centered, with programs like Family Shelter Service for domestic violence survivors, the Employee Assistance Network (EAN) for workplace wellness, and Legal Aid Society for pro bono legal services. We believe in the power of families and the resilience of our communities, and we're committed to showing up with practical support every single day.
