About

In 2016, the Volkswagen Group recognized a critical gap in urban transportation: private cars were congesting cities while public transit couldn't fully meet the flexibility needs of modern urban life. They founded MOIA with a bold vision to create a new category of mobility that would combine the convenience of ride-hailing with the efficiency of public transport. The founders understood that the future of urban movement had to be shared, electric, and ultimately autonomous.

Starting with operations in Hanover in 2018 and expanding to Hamburg in 2019, MOIA began proving that ridepooling could be a viable alternative to private car ownership. Today, under CEO Sascha Meyer's leadership, MOIA has evolved beyond a simple mobility service into a technology provider that partners with public transport operators. With autonomous testing set to begin in Hamburg by 2025 and strategic partnerships with Uber and Ruter, MOIA is actively building the infrastructure for the next generation of urban mobility - where shared, electric, autonomous vehicles seamlessly integrate into public transportation networks.
