In 1957, a group of forward-thinking individuals came together with a simple but revolutionary idea: create a consumer-governed health plan that put people first. They established Group Health, which would eventually evolve into HealthPartners, the largest consumer-governed nonprofit health care organization in the nation. Park Nicollet, now part of the HealthPartners family, grew from this same commitment to making health care simpler, more affordable, and more accessible. What started as a pioneering vision has grown into an integrated system serving over 1.8 million medical and dental health plan members nationwide and 1.3 million patients across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Today, Park Nicollet operates as part of a comprehensive care delivery system that includes hospitals, clinics, health plans, and the HealthPartners Institute for research and education. The organization is driven by a mission to improve health and well-being in partnership with members, patients, and the community. Guided by values of excellence, compassion, partnership, and integrity, Park Nicollet continues to transform health care by listening to customers and developing innovative solutions. From founding one of the first prepaid health plans to building modern specialty centers, the organization has remained focused on a clear vision: health as it could be, affordability as it must be, through relationships built on trust.
