RAINN, founded in 1994 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is the largest anti-sexual violence organisation in the United States. The non-profit operates to change how America thinks about and responds to sexual violence through three interconnected pillars: prevention via education and awareness, advocacy for legislative change, and direct services for victims.
Its flagship programme is the National Sexual Assault Hotline, a confidential resource available 24/7 by phone and online chat. Over more than three decades, the hotline has connected with more than 5.5 million survivors and their loved ones. The organisation also provides consulting and training to workplaces, schools, hospitals, and other institutions to help them create safer environments and better respond to disclosures of sexual misconduct.
RAINN employs a team of trained professionals and volunteers to deliver trauma-informed care. The organisation has received top ratings from Charity Navigator, Candid, and the Better Business Bureau, indicating strong performance on transparency, fiscal responsibility, and mission impact.
