Seneca Holdings is the investment and economic development arm of the Seneca Nation, established in 2009 to build a diversified portfolio of profitable businesses. The company has deployed $28 million in committed capital across federal government contracting, environmental solutions, travel management, sports and entertainment, telecommunications, and professional development. This diversification strategy aims to generate long-term, sustained income and economic self-sufficiency for the Seneca Nation's 8,500+ enrolled citizens, moving beyond traditional gaming and tobacco revenues.
The company operates fiber broadband networks delivering affordable on-territory technology to Seneca communities and manages professional development training programmes for high school and college interns. Seneca Holdings also sponsors cultural events, including annual support for the Marvin "Joe" Curry Veterans Powwow. According to company claims, these investments have added hundreds of jobs to the region.
Strategic decisions are guided by the Hodinöhsö:ni´ (Haudenosaunee) Seventh Generation Principle, which emphasises considering the impact of actions on the next seven generations. This approach combines the Seneca Nation's sovereign status and competitive advantages with professional investment expertise, framing economic development as inseparable from community welfare and cultural continuity.
