Founded in 1977 by David Packard, co-founder of Hewlett-Packard, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group is a non-profit business association representing the innovation economy. As a 501(c)(6) organization, it focuses on policy advocacy, convening stakeholders, and operating Centers of Expertise. The group represents nearly one of every three private sector jobs in Silicon Valley, with its member companies contributing more than $3 trillion annually to the worldwide economy.
The organization maintains a presence in Silicon Valley, Washington, D.C., and Sacramento, engaging with policy issues across the technology, manufacturing, and broader innovation economy sectors. Its work includes programming on leadership diversity, ESG principles, and efforts to promote an equitable, sustainable, and inclusive future. The group also operates an affiliated 501(c)(3) foundation that supports community volunteering and equity programs.
