The Convergence Foundation (TCF) is an Indian philanthropic organisation founded in April 2021 by Ashish and Manisha Dhawan. Its stated purpose is to transform the lives of all Indians through rapid, sustained economic growth and inclusive development. The foundation holds that economic growth is the fulcrum of national development and that government is the principal agent of system change, with philanthropy and non-profit organisations playing a supporting, catalytic role.
TCF's work is organised into three strategic pillars. The Economic Growth Pillar seeks to accelerate growth by fostering an attractive investment climate, boosting exports and advancing science and technology. The Human Capital Pillar covers education, skilling, labour mobility and women's economic empowerment. The Development Enablers Pillar focuses on strengthening institutions of state capacity and building organisations capable of catalysing population-scale improvements.
Operating across India, the foundation works systemically with government through a network of more than 20 partner organisations. It concentrates resources on what it calls "pivotal ideas": those judged to have the highest potential for transformational, population-scale change. The Convergence Foundation is a privately funded family philanthropic initiative.
