Tilting Futures is a nonprofit organisation, founded in 2010, that designs and delivers immersive learning programs for young people across the world. Its programs combine evidence-based curriculum, cultural immersion, and hands-on apprenticeships to help participants develop the skills and networks needed to address global challenges. To date, the organisation has empowered more than 2,700 students from over 100 countries, and currently serves 3,000+ young leaders.
Its flagship offering, Take Action Lab, places students in in-person apprenticeships at two locations: Cape Town, South Africa, where the program centres on human rights, and Penang, Malaysia, where the focus is environment and sustainability. When international travel halted during COVID-19, Tilting Futures launched its Virtual Academy, a remote learning program that reached over 1,500 students globally. The organisation currently has more than 15,000 applications in process across its programs.
Work at Tilting Futures spans immersive and experiential education design, youth leadership development, virtual and in-person program delivery, and thematic areas including human rights and environmental sustainability. The organisation operates across multiple geographies, with programme hubs in Cape Town and Penang and a globally distributed student community.
