The University of North Texas System is a public university system established in 1999 to serve the Dallas–Fort Worth region exclusively. It operates four component institutions: the University of North Texas (with campuses in Denton and Frisco), UNT Dallas, and UNT Health Fort Worth. Together, these institutions serve over 49,000 students and employ more than 14,000 people across higher education, research, academic medicine, and workforce development.
The system awards nearly 12,000 degrees annually and has produced 480,000 alumni, of whom 324,000 live and work in the Dallas–Fort Worth region. The University of North Texas holds Tier One research status, whilst UNT Dallas is recognised as the fastest-growing public university in Texas. UNT Health Fort Worth operates as an academic medical centre with over 2,400 students.
As a Hispanic- and Minority-Serving Institution, the system prioritises affordable pathways to social mobility and economic opportunity through education. Its core values centre on courageous integrity, curiosity, care, collaboration, and commitment to a culture of respect and belonging for all.
