The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) is a member-driven union representing more than 80,000 pilots across 42 U.S. and Canadian airlines. Founded in 1931, the organisation has operated for nearly a century as the world's largest airline pilot union and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organisation globally.
ALPA provides professional representation to pilots in labour matters and contract negotiations with airlines. The organisation conducts unbiased, fact-based evaluation of safety and security issues, working to ensure the highest standards of aviation safety across the commercial aviation industry.
Beyond direct member services, ALPA engages in vigorous advocacy on behalf of pilots and for aviation safety standards and policies. Its work spans labour representation, collective bargaining, pilot assistance programmes, and collaboration with airlines and regulatory bodies to maintain professional standards and protect both pilot interests and the travelling public.
