Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is a legal organization founded in 1994, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, with additional offices in Lansdowne, Virginia; Washington D.C.; and Dallas, Texas. The organization operates in the legal services and nonprofit advocacy sectors, focusing on cases involving religious freedom, free speech, the sanctity of life, marriage and family, and parental rights.
ADF's work includes strategic litigation, filing amicus curiae briefs, and policy advocacy. Through its international arm, ADF International, the organization advances its mission in over 100 countries. It was established by more than 30 prominent Christian leaders and functions as an alliance-building organization.
The organization requires all employees to affirm a Statement of Faith, reflecting its stated mission to advocate for the right of people to freely live out their faith.
