FINCA Uganda is a community-based microfinance bank founded in 1992. It provides loans, savings accounts, financial education and technical support to low-income individuals and communities, with the aim of helping clients build assets, create jobs and raise their standard of living. The institution serves over one million customers through 28 service locations and employs between 201 and 500 people.
Its central product is Village Banking™, a community-based group lending model that combines credit with savings and non-lending support. Alongside it, FINCA offers agriculture loans for farmers and agricultural investment, and education loans for school financing. Savings products and financial education are offered as complements to lending rather than as standalone services.
FINCA operates in the microfinance, banking and financial inclusion sectors, with particular exposure to agriculture and education. It describes itself as a digitally minded institution that works with fintech partners, alongside an emphasis on personal relationships with customers and on regulatory compliance. The bank is one of 20 microfinance institutions in the FINCA Impact Finance Network and draws on more than 30 years of local expertise in Uganda.
