Raising the Village is a Canadian non-profit founded in 2007 that works to eliminate ultra-poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. Operating in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the organization partners with last-mile communities to deliver a structured, village-wide intervention designed to move households from subsistence to sustainable livelihoods within two years.
Its core program runs over 24 months and combines high-quality agricultural inputs, training, coaching, and the establishment of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs). The organization reports that participating households increase income and production by over 240% within the program period, and claims a 19x return on investment within five years of graduation. To date, Raising the Village has reached over 2.4 million people cumulatively.
Underpinning program delivery is Venn, an integrated data and technology ecosystem that captures real-time data from partner communities. This infrastructure informs program design, guides field delivery, and enables continuous refinement - allowing the organization to increase precision and efficiency across its operations.
Staff work across functions spanning agricultural development, community finance, capacity building, data analytics, and technology - operating in contexts that require both field-level engagement and analytical rigour.
