Groundwork Collaborative is a 501(c)(3) non-profit think tank and progressive advocacy organisation based in Washington, D.C. Founded in 2018, it campaigns for progressive economic policy and for a change in how the economy is described and understood. Its stated premise, "We Are The Economy", frames an approach that centres people whom prosperity has passed by and emphasises diversity, equity and inclusion in economic policymaking.
The organisation's work falls into three areas: research, tools and data intended to reframe economic policy debates; strategic communications that tell stories about how the economy works and whom it serves; and issue advocacy aimed at building accountable public power and breaking up concentrations of private power. This work is directed at four core audiences: media, policymakers, economic experts and grasstops leaders.
Groundwork Collaborative operates a unionised workplace, represented by the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU), and states a commitment to worker rights and fair labour practices. The organisation is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
