We're a global organization fighting to end animal cruelty and suffering in all its forms. Founded in 1954 as the Humane Society of the United States, we've grown to work in more than 50 countries, tackling everything from puppy mills and animal fighting to wildlife protection and farm animal welfare. We don't just respond to crisis situations - we work to change systems and pass laws that prevent cruelty before it happens. Our team runs sanctuaries, partners with local shelters, and advocates for stronger animal protection policies at every level of government.
What drives us is the belief that all animals deserve to live free from suffering and exploitation. Whether we're rescuing animals from natural disasters, shutting down cruel industries, or helping people keep their beloved pets during hard times, we focus on creating lasting change. We know we can't do it alone, which is why we work with communities, lawmakers, and other organizations around the world. The challenges are big, but we've seen real progress over our 70-year history - from closing dog meat farms to passing historic animal protection legislation. We won't stop until the world is truly humane for all animals.
