Instagrid, founded in 2018, designs and sells portable battery systems that replace conventional combustion generators. Its flagship product, the Instagrid GO, delivers clean, silent, grid-like power in off-grid settings, eliminating the noise, fumes, and carbon emissions associated with petrol and diesel generators. The company targets professionals who depend on reliable field power: construction crews on remote sites, film productions on location, emergency services in disaster zones, and event operators of all scales.
The technical work spans portable battery engineering, energy storage, and hardware systems built for demanding field deployment. The company employs over 200 people drawn from more than 40 countries, reflecting a broadly international team structure. Its mission centres on decarbonising off-grid power - shifting professional users away from combustion engines and toward battery alternatives as a practical, day-to-day replacement rather than a niche supplement.
Instagrid operates at the intersection of hardware engineering and energy transition, developing systems that must meet the durability and output expectations of professionals working in construction, utilities, events, and emergency response. The diversity of use cases - from a film set requiring silent power to a disaster-response unit needing rapid deployment - shapes both the product requirements and the breadth of engineering challenges the team addresses.
