North Carolina's Electric Cooperatives is a network of 26 locally owned and operated electric cooperatives serving 2.8 million people across 93 of the state's 100 counties. The cooperatives operate under a member-owned, not-for-profit structure, meaning revenues beyond operating costs are returned to members. Each cooperative is guided by local consumers and is committed to innovation and economic development for rural communities.
The organisation delivers reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean electricity. More than half of its emissions-free generation comes from nuclear power. Technical focus areas include grid modernisation, battery energy storage systems, solar energy, and nuclear generation.
