UNICEF USA, founded in 1947 and formerly known as the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, is an independent charitable organisation that mobilises the American public to support the world's most vulnerable children. It raises resources and advocates on behalf of UNICEF, which delivers humanitarian aid, education, health care and emergency relief for children in over 190 countries and territories.
Since its founding, UNICEF USA has raised approximately $12 billion in cumulative donations, including gifts-in-kind. The organisation operates a public charity fundraising model across the United States, channeling support to programmes in four main areas: humanitarian aid, education, health care and emergency relief. Alongside fundraising, UNICEF USA engages in advocacy and policy work aimed at child-centred policy and building support for child rights.
The work is mission-driven and international in scope, spanning the nonprofit, humanitarian aid, child welfare, education, health care, emergency relief, and advocacy and public policy sectors. Further information is available at https://unicefusa.org/.
