K2 Space, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Torrance, California, is a satellite technology company building what it describes as the largest and highest-power spacecraft ever flown. The company's core proposition challenges a prevailing industry assumption that satellites must be small to be cost-effective. Its flagship product, the Mega Class platform, delivers over 20kW of power and can accommodate up to 3,000 kg of payload mass - roughly ten times the power of traditional constellation-class satellites.
The company pursues a vertically integrated manufacturing model, with approximately 80% of each satellite built in-house. Its technical work spans power systems, electric propulsion, thermal management, ultra-stable pointing and attitude control, autonomy stack development, radiation recovery, and mission-data processing. K2 Space has raised $250 million in Series C funding and is valued at $3 billion.
K2 Space's stated roadmap extends beyond conventional satellite operations to include deep-space and interstellar missions. The company's culture signals emphasise reliability, continuous innovation, and a vertically integrated approach to spacecraft development.
